A few weeks ago I promised I’d report back on Brett Henderson’s podcast series, “The Veteran Entrepreneur Masterclass”. Well, this is me coming back to you and saying, “Wow. These podcasts are really worth listening to!”
Brett does two things (at least) really well. First, he creates a very warm and welcoming venue for having all kinds of discussions with, about, and FOR veterans.
One I listened to last week while taking a drive, is this very impactful podcast, “The Process Inside The Battle Buddy Foundation with Kenny Bass.” Not only does Kenny tell his story about how and why he found his service dog, but he also illuminates the need to support this foundation and the life-saving service they provide.
Explaining that there is a special dog for every veteran who needs one and that each dog – through The Battle Buddy Foundation – are specifically selected for and matched to their veteran, it becomes clear how much expertise and time goes into the training of each dog.
The Battle Buddy Foundation is able to provide these dogs through donations and Kenny estimated that to train one dog can range from $30K to $60K. The training of these very special animals ranges from 1-3 years depending on the veteran’s needs.
