The Founder

Meet Luis

As a lifelong cattle rancher, Luis owned a very successful cattle operation in Mexico. He is known in the US cattle industry as a respected businessman and dependable and successful cattle rancher.

After a challenging period of settling into their new American home, Luis now feels ready to start again. He is actively identifying land and pastures for his first US-based cattle operation, with plans for his children to one day take over and be assured of a secure income and future.

While Luis is creating generational security for his family, he is also fulfilling a demand for locally produced fresh beef. The community Luis lives in wants food that is known for quality and produced by neighboring businesses. Finally, Luis’s lifelong experience and industry contacts will help other producers in this region.

The Team Helping to Build the Dream

How it Began.

Settling in America

Once Luis and his family arrived in the US as asylum seekers, Project Home stepped in to offer housing, medical attention and schooling for his children. A grassroots organization, Project Home moves asylum seekers out of detention centers and into our communities and homes while they await their asylum hearings.

Finding Community

Luis’s journey to community began with getting training at PHAZE Welding Technology Center. A business, innovation and training center where talented people gather, PHAZE offered Luis the chance to meet like-minded people. Surrounded and encouraged by business owners he could relate to, Luis began to believe he could have his own business again.

Learning Who Can Help

Luis’s dream of a US-based cattle operation became a reality once he connected to Village. A hub of business experts and resources, the Village opens doors for entrepreneurs to gain access to funders, technical advisors and others. With this support, Luis began to see the path forward, identifying grants, writing contracts and selecting partners for his venture.
